TEDx UCLA: Michael Newman – Sketches of a Tangent Gone Awry

In June of 2011 I had the honor of being invited to participate at the TEDxUCLA event. I figured I’d cobble together some of the disparate things I’ve been excited about over the past year and see if I could make it entertaining. Early on I was asked to provide a title for the talk – Since I wasn’t quite sure what I would do, I decided to go with “Sketches of a Tangent Gone Awry.” I ended up creating an SMS gaming scenario involving balloons, audience location mapping and a fully automatic, computer controlled Nerf machine gun turret. Needless to say, it was a blast.
