UCLAx Physical Computing Workshop

In early 2013 I was asked by AIGA Los Angeles to create and host a one-day physical computing workshop. The workshop was a huge success – Shortly after UCLA Extension invited me to expand on the concept and create a two-day workshop for the Design and Communications program.

The students’ knowledge of programming ranged from zero to expert and with a full house, we spent an awesome weekend with Arduinos and electronic components learning to build circuits and write code. By end of day on Sunday everyone had programmed and built their own game and had a blast!

Course Description

Want to make lights flash, motors span & computer-controlled Nerf machine guns? Join DCA Instructor Michael Newman (WordPress Design/Development, iPad Design/Development & HTML5) for a two-afternoon, hand-on workshop & learn to create interactive, computer-controlled electronics for art, entertainment & world domination.

All materials included – Each participant will receive and Arduino, mini-breadboard & small assortment of electronics components.
